Blaqbonez is a well-known Nigerian musician who is currently signed to 100 Crowns, a Chocolate City label. Blaqbonez is a rapper, and he calls himself the “Best Rapper in Africa.” This is something that a lot of people know about him. Childhood and Education
On December 19, 1996, Blaqbonez was born. He is 26 years old right now. His real name is Emeka Akumefule. Even though he was born in Imo State, his mother raised him in the southwest of the country. We don’t know much about Blaqbonez’s early education, but we do know that he has an engineering degree from the well-known Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife.
Career
Blaqbonez started his career when he was very young. He says that he started rapping when he was 13 years old. After his cousin put him up against a 12-year-old boy whose rap song was being played on the radio, he found out that he was good at making rap music. Blaqbonez said that as soon as he accepted the challenge, he was able to come up with bang rap lyrics, and from there he kept improving his rap skills.
Blaqbonez said that his parents didn’t like that he was interested in music at the time, so he had to hide what he was doing. So, he started taking part in a lot of competitions, which all helped him get to where he is now. Blaqbonez won Terry Tha Rapman’s Zombie competition in 2012, in which 3000 other rappers also took part. In the same year, “World Domination,” a mixtape by Terry tha Rapman, had a track with him on it. Other top Nigerian musicians, like Vector and Olamide, were also on the mixtape.
Blaqbonez kept competing in rapping contests, and in 2015, Vector’s King Kong rap competition, in which he came in second, was a lucky break for him. In the same year, the radio station Rhythm FM held a freestyle rap contest and gave him the Artist of the Month award. In 2015, he also took part in the Soundcity rap competition. Later, he won the Hennessy Vs. Class hip-hop competition. Blaqbonez also won the competition held by Tosin Adeda for Radio Palm Wine.
South Africa Must Go, which also had Oladips on it, brought Blaqbonez to the public’s attention. Blaqbonez has also made a lot of hit songs that have been at the top of many charts. Cassette Tapes and TVs (CTAT), his mixtape, was the most talked-about one of the year it came out. It was also streamed and downloaded more than 60,000 times. Blaqbonez works hard, and his commitment to his passion has earned him a lot of praise.
Awards and Nominations
Blaqbonez has reached a lot of important points in the Nigerian music business. He has put out a total of nine EPs, and many of the songs on those EPs have been hits. The Guardian Newspaper said that he was the rapper “carrying the torch of Nigerian rap.”
Many sources named his 2018 album “Bad Boy Blaq” as one of the best of the year, along with M.I.’s “Rendezvous” and Burna Boy’s “Outside.” It was also at the top of several iTunes charts.
The Guardian newspaper put Blaqbonez on its list of the “top 10 artists to watch out for in 2019.” He was also named by the New York Times, along with Teni, as one of the Nigerian acts to watch.
Blaqbonez has been nominated for several music awards, including the Headies Award for Best Rap Single and the City Peoples Music Award for Rap/Hip Hop Artiste of the Year.
Controversies
Blaqbonez has always thought of himself as the best rapper in Africa. This didn’t sit well with his fellow rappers, like Vector, Vader, and even MI Abaga, who is a member of Chocolate City’s frontline.
It started a debate about who was the best rapper in Africa. Blaqbonez, Vector, and Davole all made diss tracks at each other, which caused a social buzz that lasted for a long time.
Relationship
It is said that Blaqbonez is dating Gbemmy Daniels. In one of his Instagram posts, he showed her off.
