Stephen Odimgbe, popularly known as Flashboy, is a 33-year-old Nigerian actor who rose to prominence after appearing in the 2018 comedy film ‘Big Mess.’
His career has since received its long-awaited clean break, and his rise to the top has been rapid. With his attractiveness and talent, the actor has warmed the hearts of the people.
Biography
Stephen Emeka Odimgbe was born on September 26, 1989, in Lagos, Nigeria, to parents Jack and Judy Odimgbe. Despite being born and raised in Western Nigeria, he is from the country’s east, specifically Ihiala, Anambra State. The 33-year-old actor is Igbo in origin.
Although Stephen is hugely popular in Nigerian entertainment circles, his family history is a little murky, especially since he refuses to reveal what his parents do for a living. He also has two younger siblings, but only one is well-known to the public, Softkid.
Softkid, his younger brother, is a rising Nigerian musician known only by his stage name and not his real name. The rest are entirely anonymous.
Stephen knew as a child that he wanted to be an actor. Because of his undeniable good looks, he was cast in numerous church dramas and high school plays. He attended private schools in Lagos for primary and secondary school, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate, FSLC, and West African Senior School Certificate, WASSCE, respectively.
He was then admitted to Madonna University, where he planned to pursue his first degree, but dropped out for unknown reasons. He decided to give it another shot, this time at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State. He majored in Theater Arts at university and received his B.A. in 2015. Stephen landed his first official movie role shortly after graduation, kicking off his successful foray into Nollywood.
Career
Stephen, a new screen character, joined the Nigerian film industry in 2015. He was only 26 at the time, and he had only been on screen for about seven years. Stephen’s filmography has grown to nearly a hundred films in recent years. Unsurprisingly, this young actor has successfully carved a niche in the industry as a typical Nollywood heartthrob, a category that has been dominated for years by the likes of IK Ogbonna, Michael Godson, and Mike Ezuruonye.
Despite being a relative newcomer to the industry, Stephen has carved out a niche for himself as one of the most marketable lover boys, preferring to play romantic roles that often depict him as a prince, king, lover, or sometimes, an estranged husband. His films range from epic to contemporary to the glamour films that are typically shown in theaters.
Stephen has been nominated for several acting awards, including ‘Best New Actor’, and ‘Most Promising Actor’ at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA.
Marriage and Relationship
Stephen Odimgbe remains a bachelor. Once upon a time, there were rumors of the actor getting married to co-star, Regina Daniels but it was false. They got married only on a movie set. He has never been married before now. He has kept his private life out of the media.
