Biography
Clem Ohameze (born 27 June 1965) is a renowned Nigerian actor and politician with a career spanning over two decades. He is most known for his roles in Nollywood films like My Sister, My Love (2006), My Sister, My Love 2 (2006), and Oloibiri (2006). (2015).
Clem Ohameze began his professional acting career in 1995, but his breakthrough came in 1998 when he appeared in the blockbuster film End Time. Since then, he has appeared in over 200 films over his 20-year career, which began in 1995 and continues to this day.
Early Life and Education
Clem Ohameze was born on June 27, 1965, in Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria. He is from Oguta, Imo State, in the southeast of Nigeria, although he was born and brought up in Port Harcourt, Rivers, in the south-south. By tribe, he is Igbo.
Clem Ohameze is a well-educated individual. For his secondary schooling, he attended Holy Family College/ Baptist High School. The legendary actor subsequently studied at the Institute of Management Technology IMT in Enugu, earning an Ordinary National Diploma in Mass Communication.
He earned a BSc in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Port Harcourt in 1989. He also studied at Buckingham University in London, earning a master’s degree in Preventive and Social Medicine in 2010.
Career
Clem Ohameze began a professional acting career after graduating from university, appearing in various NTA drama series. He debuted in the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood) in 1995, but catapulted to prominence in 1998 when he appeared in the Nollywood blockbuster End Time, Thanksgiving, A Cry for Help, My Sister My Love, Ije, Billionaires Club, Emotional Blunder, Oganigwe, Child of Pain, Stigma, Smooth Operator, Butterfly, Face of a Murderer, The Faithful Woman, Knight of the Night, Kingdom of Darkness, Price of Ignorance, Evil Desire, Second Tenure, and Back from Hell are among the other films he has appeared in. He frequently portrays an occultist and, on occasion, a clergyman.
Clem Ohameze is also a member of the Nigerian Actors Guild. Between 2006 to 2010, he took a break from acting to explore other interests, including politics. Regardless, he has now returned to his film career after a brief hiatus. He appeared in the award-winning film Ije: The Journey in 2010, alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.
Political Career
In 2007, Clem Ohameze ran for election to represent the Ohaji-Egbema-Oguta Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He, however, dropped out due to reports of a danger to his life. During the sad episode, his automobile was ambushed, and his cousin was shot and died.
Clem Ohameze, in reality, had to migrate to London, United Kingdom, for his safety. Despite this, he returned to run for any elective seat in the 2015 general elections but changed his mind.
