One thing you'll notice is that this phone is built the same as the Mate 30 Pro spec. So we have the same curved screen about 6.53 inches carrying a notch on top.

This allows us to access 94% of the screen compared to the body of the phone, which is more impressive than the smartphone's non-5G option brings on board.

This is followed by the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 6, which can be found on the front and back of the device. The back is treated the same as it is also made of glass.

This glass treatment allows various colour choices - black, space silver, cosmic purple and emerald green - to stand out even better.

Perhaps another difference between this and all the other units in this series make it difficult to add two extra colour options - orange and forest green.

Although this may interest some users, the lack of a 3.5mm the connector does not fit well with others. Although the device works well with it's stereo speakers, you will need to get some wireless headsets or Bluetooth headsets if you want to enjoy private audio sessions with the device.

That said, the Mate 30 Pro 5G holds the Type C reversible USB connector, which is flanked by the speakerphone and microphone at the base. Like the modelled device, we have no side volume controls but built into the screen.

It's the same for the fingerprint sensor that got optical and under the screen this year. This frees up space at the rear for a total of four cameras that will meet key imaging and video needs.

Following the last line above, Huawei brings the same quad-camera configuration in the Pro version to this unit. So we started with a 40MP main snapper capable of capturing large images, followed by an 8MP sensor for telephoto purposes.

Of the other two, we have another 40MP sensor that takes care of ultra-wide photos and a final ToF 3D camera for better depth detection.

The same 3D ToF sensor can be found on the front of the device, retaining the largest 32MP sensor company. This ToF sensor is believed to help improve the face ID that comes with this device, as well as help you get better portrait shots in front.

Hardware, software and other features

Huawei has always enjoyed using its own chipsets, so we have the high power Kirin 990 chipset inside the device. Like the others, there will not be a 6 GB RAM input model - so this unit will only be offered in 8 GB RAM options globally.

The only difference would be in the storage space where users can choose to choose 128 GB or 256 GB storage options. You should not let memory space be a difficult decision as there is a nano memory slot to allow expansion of space to 256 GB again.

Ignoring the settings, we already mentioned the inclusion of Face ID. What we don't talk about is that this device will use Android ten and was emulated as EMUI 10.

Although Huawei still uses Android, the phone will not have standard Google apps - Gmail, Calendar, Chrome, etc. - ready to use. Unfortunately, users won't be able to download them to their devices either, but we hope that will change soon.

If you are willing to look further, you will find that the included 4500mAh battery is just more than capable of handling all your needs. This is combined with an impressive 40 W fast-charging capacity, so you don't even have to wait for the battery to charge.

The most interesting thing about the battery is that it can recharge other devices. These other devices must also support wireless charging, but we do not recommend this as a fast-charging option.

Speaking of fast charging, the wireless charging on this Mate 30 Pro 5G happens on an impressive 27W.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G starts at about 1199 EUR. All units in this series may have been released but are not yet commercially available.
